UWS Research in the News

Geological rock sample from the Mt. Weld showing association of apatite and lateritic phases in supergene geology.
Image is a pseudo colour map. Blue is apatite, Green is manganese and red is lateritic/iron oxide. SEM X-ray map full spectrum taken at 512x 512, 20 kV, 200 msec/point and collected by Richard Wuhrer.

Congratulations go to Dr. Jason Reynolds and Peter Fisher for their X-Ray Map of geological research that has been published on the front cover of the AUSTRALIAN MICROCSOPY & MICROANAYLYSIS NEWSLETTER (AMMS Newsletter).

This image was taken using a Joel 840 SEM with a Moran Microanalysis system. This X-Ray Mapping technology, along with many other analytical techniques is available through the University of Western Sydney’s Advanced Characterisation Materials Facility (AMCF).
